God's truth for today's world

Today, my message is entitled “Share Your Faith with Prayer.” We’re going to be talking about how prayer can be an incredibly powerful means to share your faith with others. Not only is prayer an effective tool to share your faith, it is something that every believer can use. I am very excited about the Word that God has given me to share with you this morning. I believe that if we can understand, commit to and put into action what God wants to teach us this morning, it will radically change each of our lives and our church as well.

Our message series in November is called “Share Your Faith.” Last week Pastor David spoke on the supreme task of the church. Regardless of how elections turn out, the task of the church remains the same, to make disciples of Jesus Christ. This week, we have Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday. God wants to teach us to use special holidays and events as opportunities to share our faith with those around us. So, today, my message is entitled “Share Your Faith with Thanksgiving.”

Today we begin a new message series called “Share Your Faith.” In a few weeks, we will be entering the holiday season with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up. Both of these seasons have to do with God, so there will be many opportunities for us to share our faith with others. So, I believe that God wants to prepare each one of us who is a believer, to take advantage of the season.

As we look around us in the world, we see a lot of things that are not right. The headlines on the St. Louis Post Dispatch website on Friday related to abortion, the upcoming election, an ethics complaint against the County Library, a new casino in Cape Girardeau and the arrest of a serial robber in St. Louis. What do most of those items have in common? All except the election news have to do with sin, people doing things that are wrong and hurt others.

In our current message series, we’re talking about salvation. We want to understand what salvation is all about, so that we can comprehend it for ourselves and so that we can explain it to others. I believe that God has destined each believer to bring others to salvation, by praying for them and witnessing to them. Yet, oftentimes, we count ourselves out. We think, Oh, I could never lead someone to Jesus. I could never tell someone else how to be saved. Yet, that’s God’s plan for you and me. To lead others to Jesus.
