God's truth for today's world

Christian marriage is under attack in our time from many different angles. Some of the attacks are external attacks on God-ordained marriage between one man and one woman. Other attacks are internal attacks on the individual spouses.

In a Christian marriage, the marriage is strengthened as each spouse draws closer to God. As each spouse builds their relationship with God, their relationship with one another grows stronger.

Sometimes, hidden secrets can devastate a marriage. Read the following story about a devastated marriage that God graciously restored.

In his mid-40s, David Hartshorn’s life appeared no different from most men. In his own words, it was a “vicious cycle of doing business, working hard, making deals …” Except that there was more to his story. His need for success was an addiction. So was sex. But David […]

Despite the wonderful advances in medical technology, there are still many cases where medical doctors do not have the answers to bring about healing. In these cases, believers in Jesus Christ are to pray to God in faith for healing.

Faith for healing grows strong in churches that teach God’s Word still applies to our lives today, just as it did in the past. The examples of healing in the ministry of Jesus and the history of the early church are not just dusty history. Those stories are case studies for believers of faith to follow today. Jesus Himself said in

John 14:12 (NIV)  I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

At Life Church St. Louis (Assembly of God), we believe that God is still in the healing business. We pray for people to be healed every Sunday and see many wonderful answers to prayer. Read the following article for many more stories of supernatural healing today.

Many sniff at the mention of miracles, citing deception and charlatans rather than an all-powerful, but compassionate Creator God. As for the multitude of reports coming from missionaries in third-world nations, scoffers easily discount them due to distance and difficult documentation.

However, documented, confirmed John Smith-type miracles cause a problem for those who dismiss the possibility of divine healing. Was Smith’s miracle the rare exception?

Within days of the John Smith story breaking, stories of other documented miraculous healings started coming to light.

Build the Building Message Introduction

Today, we’re continuing our message series called “Bondservant.” When you’re a servant to a master, the master has tasks for you to do as you serve them. So, if you’re a believer here this morning, you are a bondservant of Jesus Christ. And Jesus has tasks for you to complete for Him in your life. In fact, those tasks are not just a part of your life, those tasks are your complete life. We have no life of our own outside of serving Jesus.

The following article records the complete incredible story of John Smith being raised from the dead after drowning in Lake St Louis on January 19, 2015 through the power of prayer. John and his parents were part of an Assemblies of God church, that believed in the power of God to work miracles today. Many churches believe that God worked miracles in the times of the Bible, but deny that God still works miracles today. At Life Church St. Louis (Assemblies of God), we believe that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He still performs miracles for those who pray in faith. Do you believe that God still works miracles?

Fourteen-year-old John Smith had lost his battle for life. No longer was he struggling to maintain his desperate grip on the edge of the ice or flailing his arms in a final and terrifying attempt to stay afloat. No, for the past 15 minutes his lungs had been filled with raw lake water, his heart had stopped beating, and he lay motionless at the bottom of Lake Sainte Louise. John Smith was dead.

Run the Race Message Introduction

Today, we’re continuing our message series called “Bondservant.” Every believer is a bondservant of Jesus Christ, that’s what it means to call Jesus your Lord or master. A bondservant serves their master for life and a bondservant believes in their master for life. In other words a bondservant of Jesus perseveres once they’ve committed their lives to Him.

Romans 10:9 (NIV)  That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Lord in the Greek is kurios, which means the master of a slave. To be saved, you must confess that Jesus is your master. Secondly, you must believe in your heart the miracle of the resurrection. For if Jesus was not raised from the dead, then He’s still dead and unable to save anyone. But if you confess Jesus as the living Lord, raised from the dead, you will be saved.

Today, we’re going to look at another metaphor for how a bondservant of Jesus lives. My message today is called “Run the Race.” This metaphor is used repeatedly throughout Scripture, both Old and New Testaments. The life of a believer is like running in a race. It’s something that just about everyone can relate to. You’ve either run in some races yourself at some point in your life or you’ve watched others run races.
