Happy Father’s Day! We’re glad that you have come to celebrate the day with us. Father’s Day is a day where we first of all give thanks to our heavenly Father for giving us the gift of fathers. Whether you had a great father or one who was lacking in some areas, the fact is that your father helped give you the gift of life. And that is a gift from God.

Today is a day to give thanks to God for the mothers that He has given us in His wisdom. Some here today are mothers and others will be mothers in the future. A mother’s love for her children is a picture of God’s love for His children. Today, we want to say thank you to all the mothers that are here today. Thank you for the sacrificial love you have demonstrated in raising your children. Father, thank you for each mother represented here today. Thank you for the children you have blessed them with the opportunity to raise. For those who still have children at home, give each mother strength and wisdom to raise those children for you. For those whose children have already left home, we pray that those mothers would continue to pray for and encourage their children to walk in your ways. For those mothers who have grandchildren, we pray that they would pass on a godly heritage to their children’s children. We thank you for the love each mother has for her children and how it reminds us of your love for us. May we honor our mothers today as we give thanks to you for creating them. In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.

Today, we’re beginning a new message series called “The Book of Life.” We’re going to be talking about something that is an essential component of every father’s toolkit, a book called the Bible.

When our country was founded, a deep knowledge of the Bible was part of every person’s education. Today, the most famous book in the history of the world is rarely studied in school, except for those majoring in theology. A recent survey showed that 58% of the Americans are not interested in the wisdom of the Bible and 57% read is less than 5 times a year. People think they know what is in the Bible, but surveys have shown time and again, that most people’s concept of what the Bible says is largely incorrect.

We need strong families today, because weak families are fragmenting in America at an alarming rate. The average marriage in America lasts 7½ years. Sixty percent of all second marriages fail. Every 30 seconds there is a divorce in America.

I don’t want that to happen to you or your family. In fact I don’t just want your family to just stay together, I want it to grow strong. Why?  So that it can accomplish the unique purpose that God has for your family. You see, God doesn’t just have a purpose for each person in your family individually, He has a purpose for your family to accomplish together.

Jesus on HumilityCurrently, we’re in a message series called “40 Days with Jesus” based on the Sermon on the Mount. In our series, we’re discovering that Jesus doesn’t pull any punches when He preaches. He is serious about the kind of life that He expects His disciples to live. Jesus is dead set against any kind of hypocrisy in His followers. He is interested in our hearts becoming full of God and our actions following our hearts. The wonderful thing is that as we learn from and follow Jesus’ commands in this passage, we lay a firm foundation for a blessed life.
