What does the Bible say about healing prayer?

One of many verses about healing is: James 5:14-15 (ESV) Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

How does God heal people?

God brings healing in many different ways through the Holy Spirit. Sometimes people are instantly healed through prayer. Many times, healing is gradual and takes place over time. God often uses doctors and medicine to bring about healing. God can bring healing to those that medicine has no answer for.

Does everyone get healed?

No, everyone we pray for does not get healed, although many are. God's ways are far above ours and we do not have all the answers for why some are not healed. We do know that each of us has a finite life span and God brings us to Himself through our passing in His time. We encourage everyone to get repeated prayer, even if there is no immediate change from the first prayer. Jesus taught that repeated prayer is often necessary to receive God's answers.

Why should I come to Life Church for prayer?

We believe that God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. The healing miracles that we read about in the Bible can and do still take place today. We believe that the gifts of the are still available today, including the gift of healing. So, we pray in faith for healing, not matter how difficult the prognosis is. As you join your faith in God with ours, we believe God will work a miracle in your life as we pray together. Most of the healings in the Bible were done by Jesus and others when the person praying and the person prayed for were together, so that is what we recommend.

How will the prayer take place?

At the end of the service, there will be an announcement that prayer will be available for those who come to the front of the church. At this time, the rest of the church is dismissed. Those who come forward for prayer will be prayed for individually by Pastor Dan and another leader. We encourage those who are praying for physical healing to be anointed with oil before the prayer. Your prayer requests are confidential and will not be shared with others.

What kinds of healing do you pray for?

We pray for all kinds of healing. We pray for healing of all physical sicknesses and ailments in the body. We pray for the healing of emotional issues, as well as spiritual issues. We pray for God to bring healing to relationships. We pray for healing and deliverance for those addicted to substances or ungodly behaviors. God is a healing God and he desires for His children to be healed and whole in every aspect of their lives.
